Frequently Asked Questions
For studio session, your newborn shouldn’t be older than 14 days. There are much more props available in the studio.
The in home session is ideal for newborns between 2 to 4 weeks after birth. Unlike posed sessions at the studio, older newborns tend to have a better eye contact past the 2 week mark.
Believe it or not, but the perfect timing for a newborn studio session are the first 14 days of your baby’s life! It is only during this time that the baby’s slumber is deep and relaxed that I get to work my magic. If your baby was born prematurely or there were other complications in the beginning, I am more than happy to take the pictures of your baby later as well.
Please book as early as possible, but no later than two months before your due date. Short-term requests are usually difficult but please contact me and I will try my best to accommodate you.
Even a 5 week old baby can be photographed very authentically and beautifully. Who says that only sleeping babies look beautiful? Who says mommies only hold 2-week-old babies lovingly in their hands? No, 5, 6 or 7 week old babies can also be photographed naturally and lovingly. The only thing that’s important at that age is to enter the session with the right expectations. It will no longer be a newborn photo shoot in the classic sense. It will be a photoshoot where your baby will be awake and there will be a lot of parent interaction. Please contact me so we can discuss whether or not it would be suitable for you.
If you book your maternity and newborn sessions together, you’ll get a 50€ discount on your newborn shooting! (does not apply in case newborn mini-wrapped session is chosen)
Studio session: There’s really not much you need to prepare. Simply arrive on time and let me do that rest. If Mommy is relaxed, the baby is relaxed. A photo shoot normally lasts from 1 (Mini Wrapped Session) up to 4 hours (Deluxe Posed Newborn Beauty). In order to capture the most beautiful pictures of your baby, I want to allow enough time to gather your baby’s needs (feeding, sleeping, changing etc.), which is why it may take several hours.
Whether you take a cuddly toy or your grandma’s crochet blanket with you is up to you. I will happily incorporate your wishes into the picture. Just remember that the focus should be on your baby and not on the toy.
Since it gets really warm during the photo shoot in my studio, please wear something light and comfortable for breastfeeding (such as leggings and a tank top); you can then change for the pictures with your baby. Bring extra clothes in case of an accident while holding your baby.
If the baby is on formula, please take more than the usual amount (you can use my heater and microwave). During the photo shoot babies drink more than they usually do.
If you use a pacifier (or plan to), bring it with you for the session, it helps soothe the baby.
You don’t have to bring any clothes or other props for your newborn – I have everything I need in my studio – hats, blankets, wraps, headbands, newborn’s and mother’s clothes.
At home sessions: Rooms with a lot of natural light and light colors look best in pictures. You don’t need to worry about cleaning too much for the photo shoot. When necessary, we will move or clean things before the photo shoot. We may also need to move some furniture (but don’t worry, I won’t remodel your home).
Yes! Parents and siblings are part of the photo sessions, if wanted.
One exception: Mini Wrapped Newborn Beauty is only for the baby.
This is entirely up to you. You can visit my studio or we can meet in your favourite park or place in and around Vienna.
My studio is located at Schlöglgasse 11/9, 1120 Vienna – easily accessible by public transport. The S-Bahn and Tram 62 stop conveniently close to my studio.
Within a week after the shooting, your pictures are first uploaded to a private, password protected online gallery, where you can select the photos. I will then edit and deliver selected photos within 4-8 weeks (digitals) after the photo selection & payment (for any extra photos on top of the package) are made. If the package includes printed photos, you will receive also those by the regular mail (this may take a bit longer, as printed photos are orders in batches for more photo sessions together).
